The project Nicodemus Tessin the Younger - Sources, Works, Collections was initiated in 1999 and aims at a systematic analysis and publication of the manuscripts and collections of the architect Nicodemus Tessin the Younger (1654-1728).

Sonen Carl Gustaf Tessin var en av sin tids stora politiker. Han och hustrun Ulla Sparre tog över palatset efter Nicodemus Tessin d.y:s död 1728. Tessin byggde upp en högklassig samling av konst och konsthantverk som blev grunden bland annat till Nationalmuseums samlingar, men som medförde ekonomisk ruin. Nicodemus Tessin d.y. (Bild 2) föddes 23 maj 1654 i Nyköping, som son till Nicodemus Tessin d.ä. och Maria Svan.

Inside the castle church a Cahman organ from 1730 is still in use. Plans were made to rebuild a new castle on the old foundation. Nicodemus Tessin the Younger was the architect in charge of rebuilding. The new building, Stockholm Palace, was completed in 1754.
